Safe Maintenance - Isolation (LOTO)

The Course

This course is based on legal requirements of Safe isolation, HSE Industry guidance, Safe maintenance guidance and applicable EN Standards. It will help to satisfy the requirements for training as required in the Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations (MHSWR) 1999 for those who are working in areas where Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO) programs are in place, or whose job requires them to actually do the LOTO and isolate the energy sources for safe maintenance. MHSWR requires that managers of equipment requiring LOTO for safe maintenance put in place Safe Systems Of Work (SSOW) that ensure the task can be completed safely.

Learning Outcomes

On completion of this course attendees will be able to:

Understand how the MHSWR apply to safe and secure isolation

Identify Hazards that require control using LOTO

Efficient Risk Estimation Philosophy

Control Measure Selection

Writing Procedures

This course is recommended for all leadership and management who are writing or working with Safe and secure isolation (Lock Out Tag Out - LOTO).  This includes; Plant Managers, Engineering Managers, Supervisors, team leaders and authorised persons.

This course is invaluable to any person or company committed to a safe and efficient working environment and contributes towards competence giving managers the piece of mind that those around them are in a position to apply up to date knowledge and techniques consistently. Effective management of hazardous working activities reduces risk and the likelihood of accidents and near misses.
