FAQ

Who can carry out LOLER inspections?

According to The Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations (LOLER), a LOLER inspection must be carried out by an independent and impartial competent person. A competent person would generally be someone who regularly takes part in the assessment and maintenance of equipment. It is your legal responsibility to ensure that LOLER testing is done on time and by a qualified competent person.

With nationwide coverage, Spiers Engineering Safety provides the perfect solution when you need a LOLER Inspection company near you and our team of safety engineers are perfectly positioned to act as competent persons in the conduct of impartial LOLER examinations (as outlined in the LOLER regulations).

What is the correct inspection frequency?

Generally, LOLER inspections should be carried out as follows:

  • Every 6 months, for lifting equipment, used to lift people and all lifting accessories
  • Every 12 months, for all other lifting equipment

How much does an inspection cost?

The cost of the LOLER inspection depends on the size and complexity of the equipment being inspected. This can be anything from a lifting shackle taking a few minutes to a dockside crane needing a full day. Once you have a list of the lifting equipment onsite we can provide a detailed costing. If you need help building that list we can help you.

What areas do you offer inspections in?

Based in Tamworth, Staffordshire, Spiers Engineering Safety is a Midlands-based LOLER inspections company but we work with clients nationwide, so please don’t hesitate to contact us regarding LOLER testing anywhere in the UK.
